About Talent Search
The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program assists eligible sixth grade, middle school and high school students in reaching their educational goals by:
- facilitating educational workshops,
- assisting students with the class selection process so that students will become academically prepared for college,
- conducting field trips to businesses, colleges, universities and youth leadership conferences,
- providing individual career, college admissions and financial aid counseling.
Talent Search staff meet regularly with program participants during the academic school year. During the summer break, Talent Search sponsors the following events:
LIFE (Looking Into Future Expectations)
The LIFE program, offers future seniors the opportunity to explore college, career, and life opportunities and choices. During the LIFE Program, students:
- Apply for college admissions, including resume and essay writing
- Learn about Financial Aid
- Conduct a Scholarship Search
- Explore Careers through a "Shadowing" experience
- Learn to take risks through a "Rafting" experience
PHSI (Pre-High School Institute)
The PHSI assists new high school freshmen in the transition from Jr. High to High School by:
- Preparing students for the transition to High School
- Building students' study skills and good learning habits
- Helping students about making smart decisions so that High School can be fun and successful
- Encouraging and developing teamwork through the Ropes Course experience
- Assisting with course selection
